The C&O Canal Trust is pleased to announce a significant update to its C&O Canal Explorer app, designed to assist in touring the entire 184.5 miles of the C&O Canal National Historical Park. The update was released in August 2021.
The mobile application presents the following functionalities:
- Over 600 mapped and searchable points of interest
- Integration with your device's GPS for proximity awareness to points of interest
- Driving directions and distance calculations between locations
- Detailed information about historic sites
The recent update introduces several enhancements:
- Inclusion of mile markers
- Expanding the database to feature 200 restaurants, hotels, and shops in ten Canal Towns
- An itinerary builder enabling users to craft, save, and share customized C&O Canal experiences
- Option to maintain screen visibility during use (preventing automatic power-off)
The C&O Canal Explorer app serves as a tool to inspire exploration of uncharted areas and new adventures within the Park.
The C&O Canal Trust, the official nonprofit partner of C&O Canal National Historical Park, is dedicated to safeguarding and conserving the Park.
